Added Directory

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Added a new section to the side menu - Directory. It is a optimized version of DMOZ with thumbnails that get generated from thumbshots.org. As it sources data from DMOZ it is possible that the search feature will break from time to time as they like to disable there search button often or there servers are under too much stress to perform a search. Anyhow just thought it would be a nice feature to add so check it out! :)

Code Edit Pro 0.4.37

Sunday, March 27th, 2005

New build of Code Edit Pro. Added file backup on save or save all to .bak files. Search is done. Tab inserts four spaces instead of a tab which can lead to column alignment problems as most code editors actually do. All changed code files are saved when a command is run so that it is always compiled with your latest code. A .bak file is made during this stage as well. Also basic toolbar added. Some more error handlers have been implemented. Far and away better than any previous build. Check it out.

Another Code Edit Pro update. No nurb times with the F1 car yet though. Soon I promise.

GT4 Formula One

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Well I finished my 24 hours at the ring last night. The formula one car is pretty bad ass. I am about 100% sure that it is the best handling car in the game. I did a few laps at midfield and was in the 53-54 second range but I am sure I could do much better. Also it is worth noting that you only get access to traction and stability control during practice laps. When I tried to do a track meet it disabled those features. I believe the F1 rules have stated that there should be no traction control in F1 cars for some time now of course all the teams have found ways around it. Who can forget the renault cars zipping off the line at the opening race of the 2k4 season? So I assume the reason they have disabled the traction control and stability systems are to give you a “true to life” example of an F1 car - though if you watch F1 its clear that Schumacher is not spinning his way into fourth gear.

Rewrote index page

Saturday, March 19th, 2005

Index page now loads stories straight from mySQL instead of trying to parse my own feed in (I still do not understand why the machines at server4you have trouble with that??). Hopefully this will make the site a lot faster. Oh yeah.. played around with the 88C-V some more. I got it down to a 7.495 quarter mile.

At the gas station

Friday, March 18th, 2005

My local WaWa was a nightmare this morning. I had to get gas and the none of the pumps were taking credit cards. It took me nearly 15 minutes JUST to get gas. And then i got in line behind some girl and she kept telling her mom (who was behind me and purchasing what looked to be a large number of items) to cut in line and her mom was telling her it looks like he is just getting gas and then yelled at her in front of the whole store and took the stuff the girl had after the girl kept insisting. It was hilarious.. I really didnt care. She looekd like she was one of those stuck up girls in high school who thought she could get away with anything. Very funny. She got all flustered and ran off. It almost made the wait worthwhile.

GT4 Online Checklist

————————————

The following assumes you have some PC/Networking knowledge

Hosts

————————————

1.Download and install X-Link KAI

2.This step may not be necessary but may yield better results. - Run KAI config and setup port 30,000 as your main port. Not the Deep port. Setup your router to forward the port along to the PC that is running KAI.

3.Start KAI, create an XTag account if you dont have one.

4.Go to arena mode and create a private arena

5.In go to your options screen select that you want to host and setup max players as 2 (unless you enjoy lag), set Network traffic to light and leave monitors at 0.

5.Back in KAI kick people from your arena who have bad pings. if there ping is greather than 150ms you will have a crappy game. you want at least a 50ms ping or better

6.Have the client connect to his waiting for connection screen. (WFC for short)

7.You do the same (go to your WFC screen).

8.Cross your fingers. If all is well go pick your tracks and cars and have fun racing!

GT4 on XLink Kai

Sunday, March 13th, 2005

Hmm. Well after about an hour of playing with settings on my router and reading FAQs a savy user pointed out my incorrect settings were on my GT4 game. Boy do I feel like a noob. Anyhow I will probably make a settings checklist in the next week or two that I will put up here for people to reference that want to get started. The first race I tried was with some guy in Canada. That turned out to be quite laggy. After that I lucked out and found someone in my own state. Two straight victories. Great! Now it is time to get to bed. Drats. Look forward to more fun tomorrow!

GT4 Lotus Esprit

Sunday, March 13th, 2005

This car is evil. It feels like it is lifting the front wheels when you launch. It is the second fast car I have tested in the quarter thus far with a blistering fast time of 8.270!
