Google Talk

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Google launched its Google Talk service last night. It uses your GMail login and password. If anyone needs an invite email me and ask for one! Would be nice to finally kill off the horribly ad
filled and code bloated AIM! Google Talk is taking less than 7MB
sitting in my tray while keeping me up to date on my enormous email
inbox! Check it out

Racing News

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Haven’t had much time to work on jx90.com lately. I bought another domain the day the google RSS went public and created a racing news site later that day. Unfortunately me and several other people have noticed quite a few problems with the RSS and Atom feeds google has supplied so I hope they update them eventually. A few minutes browsing raceslick.com and I am sure you will notice some funky characters here and there. I also revisited my old atomic clock program and made some modifications to it to make it more user friendly. You can now make it startup when the computer starts and have the software attempt to synchronize your clock when it starts. Useful for keeping the computer up to date or synchronizing a network. I will provide a link to the updated copy soon.

Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Dual Core)

Thursday, August 4th, 2005

Things have been quite busy as of late. My wife’s family and mine both have had some health problems as of late and I haven’t had much time to spend on the site. Hopefully things will settle down a little bit now.

AMD released info about the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ recently. It looks like a pretty amazing deal and supposively they should be able to be had for around ~$350 when they are released. Tom’s hardware has a review and some benchmark results for the new X2. Needless to say it’s performance is very impressive when multitasking or using multithreaded applications. It actually beats there FX-57 in a lot of those tests - a chip that costs around $1,100! I think I may have found my next CPU.
